Ceramics
Wheel thrown ceramics created over the course of a semester class. Pieces were thrown on the wheel or sculpted. Each creation was bisque fired and then glaze fired in oxidation. Finishes include glazes and washes. Techniques include slipping and scoring, mishima, glaze dipping, and hand painting.
Tumblers
Inspired by the designer Eva Zeisel. The tumblers cuddle together in a set and are glazed with warm earthen tones.
Mugs
Mugs designed for a specific drink: Irish tea with a splash of milk in this case. The exteriors were inspired by the rolling green hills and mountains of Ireland.
Bowls
One of the class assignments was to create bowls for the Empty Bowls fundraiser supporting the Huerta del Valle Community Garden in Ontario, near the college. Community members were invited to donate money for a meal that they could eat from the bowls and eventually take home with them.
Cultural Fusion
The final project was to find a ceramic piece from the culture of each side of our family. After recreating the two pieces, we also created a third form that was a hybrid of the first two pieces.
